1) Bruchko. Bruce Olson. Strang Communications, 1989. “What happens when a nineteen-year old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians?” This book is the incredible story of Bruce Olson and the Motilone Indians. It is one of the best missionary stories out there. I started reading it one night before bed about 10 or 11 pm. It was so good that I literally stayed up all night to finish it. (Boy was I tired the next day at work!) 203 p.

2) Peace child. Don Richardson. Gospel Light, 1975. Story of the Sawi people (Indonesia) and how God had prepared them for the Gospel through a local legend about a “peace child”. 288 p.

3) Through gates of splendor. Elisabeth Elliot. Tyndale, 1986. Story of five young missionaries (Nate Saint, Roger Youderian, Ed McCully, Pete Fleming and Jim Elliot) who were massacred by the Auca Indians they were trying to minister to. Author is widow of one of the missionaries. 273 p.

4) A chance to die: the life & legacy of Amy Carmichael. Elisabeth Elliot. Baker, 1987. Inspiring story of an Irish missionary to South India who founded the Dohnavur Fellowship, a refuge for children in moral danger. 382 p.

5) Eternity in their hearts. Don Richardson. Gospel Light, 1984. Amazing book about how God has prepared many cultures throughout the world for the Gospel through the cultures’ own legends and religious traditions. This is not a biographical missionary story like the others, but you've got to read it! 223 p.
